Backward Pass

A backward pass is considered any pass that is not a forward pass, including a lateral pass, which is a pass thrown parallel to the line of scrimmage. Backwards passes are legal and unlimited; a team can throw as many backwards passes as they like during a single play. (That differs from forward passes, which can only be thrown once per play.)
