X Receiver

In an offensive formation, the X receiver (also known as the split end) is the one aligned on the opposite side as the tight end (or “Y receiver”), since he is the one who “splits” to the other side of the formation. The X receiver is usually the best wide receiver on the team (Larry Fitzgerald in Arizona is a good example).
