The Halfback (HB) is a member of the offense and is a variation of the running back (RB) position. The halfback lines up behind the quarterback and is usually bulkier than a running back but not quite as large as a fullback. The halfback is sometimes referred to as the tailback, and usually lines up behind the quarterback and the fullback.
